Notes from the Pastor:
The holy season of Lent begins this Wednesday (Ash Wednesday), February 14th, as we celebrate choosing from two services at Cunningham UMC, 12pm and 7pm. We again this year join with Grace & Glory Lutheran, Salem UMC, Cunningham UMC, and we welcome newcomer, the South Fluvanna Charge (pastored by Rev Rachel Chen) for services and times of meal and study on Wednesdays. You can find the gatherings calendar on the webpage under Lenten Services Schedule. Please add these gatherings to your calendar and print to put on your refrigerator as an extra reminder. It is a special time to join with folks from community churches as we come together as one univeral Body of Christ, on the trek to the cross and ultimately to the Resurrection on Easter.
Drive-thru ashes will be available at New Bethel UMC from 6am-8am, February 14th.
Holy Humor - "A gambler died. The funeral was well attended by his professional friends. In the eulogy, the minister said: "Spike is not dead; he only sleeps," From the rear of the chapel a man shouted, "I got a hundred that says he's dead."(Archbishop John L. May of St. Louis)
Thank you, Pastor George Gorman
for worship information and upcoming events.
